DESCRIPTION
A timing pointer is a small metal component that is attached to the engine block of a truck. It serves as a reference point for the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears. The pointer is positioned near the harmonic balancer and has a graduated scale that matches up with timing marks on the balancer. The purpose of the timing pointer is to ensure proper ignition timing, which affects engine performance and fuel efficiency. Without a properly functioning timing pointer, it can be difficult to accurately set ignition timing, leading to poor engine performance or even engine damage.
