DESCRIPTION
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank is a component of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system used in diesel engines to reduce harmful emissions. It stores the DEF, which is a non-toxic solution made of urea and deionized water, and injects it into the exhaust stream to convert nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. The DEF tank is typically located near the fuel tank and has a capacity of several gallons, depending on the size of the engine. The part number 5417608 is specific to Cummins® engines.
