DESCRIPTION
A Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank, also known as a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) tank, is a component of modern diesel engines that reduces harmful emissions. It stores DEF, which is a mixture of urea and deionized water used in the SCR system to convert nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. The DEF tank is typically located near the fuel tank and has a capacity of several gallons. It has a filler cap for refilling and a level sensor to monitor fluid levels. The tank also includes heating elements to prevent DEF from freezing in cold weather conditions. Overall, the DEF Tank plays an important role in reducing pollution from diesel engines by storing and supplying the necessary fluid for the SCR system to function properly.
