DESCRIPTION
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank, also known as the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) System, is a component of a modern diesel engine that reduces harmful emissions. The DEF Tank stores the DEF solution, which is injected into the exhaust system to convert nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. The DEF Tank typically has a capacity of 5-10 gallons and is made of high-density polyethylene to prevent corrosion. It also contains sensors that monitor the level and temperature of the fluid to ensure it is functioning properly. When the DEF level gets low, a warning light will illuminate on the dashboard notifying the driver that it needs refilling. Proper maintenance of this tank is crucial for meeting emissions standards and keeping your vehicle running smoothly.
