DESCRIPTION
The Idler pulley, also known as a tensioner pulley, is a component in the engine of a truck that helps to maintain proper tension on the serpentine belt. It is typically located near the alternator or power steering pump and rotates on a bearing to reduce friction. The Idler Pulley's main function is to regulate the tension of the belt and ensure smooth operation of other engine components such as the water pump and air conditioning compressor. Over time, this part may wear out due to continuous use or contamination from oil leaks, leading to issues such as squeaking or slipping belts. Regular inspection and replacement can prevent further damage and prolong the life of your engine.
