DESCRIPTION
A flexplate is a component of an automatic transmission system found in many trucks. Part number 555926 is a specific flexplate used in certain models of trucks. The flexplate bolts to the crankshaft and has teeth on its outer ring that mesh with the starter motor's gear to start the engine. It also connects the engine to the torque converter, which transfers power from the engine to the transmission. The flexplate is designed to be slightly flexible, allowing it to absorb some of the vibrations created by the engine and transmission. It must be made of a strong material, such as steel or aluminum, that can withstand high levels of stress and heat over time. A damaged or worn flexplate can cause issues with starting or shifting gears and should be replaced promptly for proper function of your truck's automatic transmission system.
