The Lock Plate, also known as Part Number 4986281, is a crucial component in the steering column of a truck. This small metal plate is designed to prevent the steering wheel from rotating freely and coming loose while driving. It is positioned behind the steering wheel and held in place with screws or bolts. The Lock Plate works by engaging with the steering shaft and holding it securely in place, preventing any movement that could result in loss of control of the vehicle. In addition, it helps to keep all other components of the steering system properly aligned for optimal performance. Without this important part, drivers would be at risk of losing control of their truck while on the road.
