DESCRIPTION
A dataplate, also known as a manufacturer's plate, is a metal or plastic tag affixed to a truck component that displays important information about the part. This includes the manufacturer's name, part number (such as 3027283), serial number, model number, production date, and other pertinent details. The dataplate serves as a form of identification for the component and helps ensure that it is properly installed and maintained throughout its lifespan. In many cases, the dataplate is required by law to be present on certain parts of a truck to ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards are met.
