DESCRIPTION
The Governor Plunger, also known as the fuel control plunger, is a small component found in diesel engines. It is responsible for controlling the amount of fuel that enters the engine by regulating the pressure of the fuel delivery system. The plunger works in conjunction with other parts of the governor system to maintain a consistent engine speed and prevent over-revving or stalling. It achieves this by adjusting the position of a spring-loaded valve within the fuel pump. When more power is required, such as when climbing a hill or accelerating, the governor plunger allows more fuel to enter the engine. Conversely, when less power is needed, it restricts flow to conserve fuel and maintain efficiency. Overall, this simple but vital component plays an important role in ensuring smooth and reliable operation of diesel engines.
