DESCRIPTION
The Governor Barrel, also known as Part Number 218548, is a component found in diesel engines that helps regulate the engine's speed. It works by controlling the amount of fuel that enters the engine based on its rotational speed. The Governor Barrel consists of a cylindrical housing and a set of weights that are attached to a shaft. As the engine's speed increases, the weights move outward due to centrifugal force, which then compresses a spring inside the barrel. This action restricts fuel flow into the engine and helps maintain a consistent RPM range. Conversely, as the engine slows down, the weights move inward and release tension on the spring, allowing more fuel to enter and increase power output. The Governor Barrel is an essential part for maintaining proper engine performance in diesel-powered trucks and machinery.
