DESCRIPTION
The governor barrel, also known as the flyweight assembly, is a key component in a diesel engine's fuel system. It controls the amount of fuel that enters the engine by regulating the pressure in the fuel injection system. As the engine speeds up, centrifugal force causes weights within the governor barrel to move outward, which in turn compresses a spring and increases fuel pressure. Conversely, when engine speed decreases, the weights move inward and reduce fuel pressure. The governor barrel is essential for maintaining consistent engine performance and preventing overloading or damage to other components. Part number 218554 refers specifically to a governor barrel produced by a certain manufacturer for use in particular truck models.
