DESCRIPTION
The Governor Barrel (part number: 218552) is a key component in a diesel engine fuel system. It is responsible for regulating the speed of the engine by controlling the amount of fuel delivered to the injectors. This is accomplished through a series of springs and weights that respond to changes in engine speed and load. As the engine speed increases, centrifugal force causes the weights to move outward, which in turn compresses the springs and restricts fuel flow. Conversely, when engine speed decreases, the weights move inward, releasing pressure on the springs and allowing more fuel to flow into the injectors. Proper operation of this component is critical for maintaining optimal engine performance and efficiency.
