The Flywheel Housing, also known as the Bell Housing, is an essential component of a truck's powertrain system. It is responsible for enclosing and protecting the flywheel and clutch assembly, which transfers engine power to the transmission. The Flywheel Housing is typically made of cast iron or aluminum and mounted to the engine block using bolts. It features openings for the starter motor and transmission input shaft, allowing them to engage with the flywheel and clutch assembly. In addition to protecting these critical components, the Flywheel Housing helps to dampen engine vibrations and reduce noise levels in the cabin.
