DESCRIPTION
The flywheel is a round metal disc that is bolted to the back of the engine's crankshaft. Its main function is to store kinetic energy and provide a smooth, constant rotation of the engine. It also serves as a mounting surface for the clutch assembly, which transfers power from the engine to the transmission. The ring gear is a toothed wheel that's attached to the outer edge of the flywheel. It engages with the starter motor's pinion gear when starting, allowing it to turn over and start the engine. Together, these components are essential for an internal combustion engine’s operation and starting system.
