DESCRIPTION
A dipstick, represented by part number 5588310, is a long, thin metal rod that is inserted into the engine to check the oil level. The end of the dipstick is marked with notches or lines that indicate the minimum and maximum levels of oil in the engine. When checking the oil level, the dipstick should be removed from its housing, wiped clean with a cloth or paper towel, reinserted into its housing and then removed again to read the level. The dipstick is an essential tool for maintaining proper engine lubrication and preventing damage due to low oil levels.
