DESCRIPTION
A dipstick is a long, slender metal or plastic rod used to measure the amount of oil in a vehicle's engine. The dipstick typically has markings on it that indicate the minimum and maximum levels of oil, allowing drivers to check their oil levels quickly and easily. The dipstick is inserted into a tube that leads directly to the engine's oil reservoir, where it collects a small sample of oil that can then be used to determine whether or not the engine needs more oil.
