DESCRIPTION
A camshaft is a rotating shaft within an engine that operates the intake and exhaust valves. The camshaft is responsible for controlling the timing and duration of valve opening and closing, which ultimately affects engine performance. As the camshaft rotates, it pushes on rocker arms or lifters, which in turn push on the valve stems, causing them to open and close. The shape of the cams on the camshaft determines when and how far each valve opens and closes. This particular camshaft, with part number 4975843, is designed specifically for use in trucks.
