DESCRIPTION
A camshaft is a component of an engine that controls the opening and closing of the engine's valves. The camshaft is responsible for controlling the timing and duration of valve operation, which directly affects the engine's power output and efficiency. Camshafts come in various shapes and sizes, depending on their intended application, but they all share a common design: a cylindrical shaft with multiple lobes or cams protruding from its surface. As the camshaft rotates, these lobes push against valve lifters or rockers, which in turn actuate the valves themselves. The 4912330 camshaft specifically is used in certain models of diesel engines manufactured by Cummins Inc., a global leader in powertrain technology for commercial vehicles and heavy-duty equipment.
