DESCRIPTION
An Aftercooler, also known as an intercooler, is a heat exchanger used in turbocharged and supercharged internal combustion engines to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine's intake manifold. The Aftercooler is typically located between the turbocharger/supercharger and the engine's intake manifold. It works by passing compressed air through a series of fins that dissipate heat from the air, reducing its temperature and increasing its density. This denser air contains more oxygen molecules per unit volume, which allows for more efficient combustion in the engine's cylinders. The Aftercooler is an essential component in any high-performance diesel or gasoline engine that utilizes forced induction to improve power output.
